FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this something I can do part-time or on the weekends?

Absolutely. You choose when you want to work. You can even let customers know when you will be shopping at certain stores, then batch delivery jobs together. For instance, you could provide delivery from a members-only warehouse, like Costco. You could let your customers know that you will be shopping there on Tuesdays and Fridays. They can place their orders ahead of time in the My HomeTown Delivery APP, and, by batching deliveries together, your hourly rate increases substantially.

How much can I earn?

That depends on you and how you choose to manage deliveries. We think you can make $10-$50/hour or more.  We’ve created some scenarios here –> what you can earn

PLUS, there are other perks as well!  Credit card perks, cash back on purchases, air mile incentives and any other benefits your credit card may offer. Warehouse Stores offer 2% or more back on purchases made with business accounts. Grocery stores often have customer savings incentives and gas rewards. These shopping incentives add up, increase your earnings and save you money.

How do I get paid?

Earn money with every delivery you make. Drivers set their own rates and collect payments including delivery fees when they complete the delivery. No waiting for weekly direct deposits to get your money. Best of all, the My HomeTown Delivery APP lets you customize the delivery fees for your area and market. Customers are able to pay with credit card (via Square), use  Paypal, or pay by cash or check.

Is My HomeTown Delivery APP free to use?

My HomeTown Delivery APP is free to download, create a profile and even accept orders. The APP collects a small fee (10% of delivery fee) at the completion of the order process, so we only make money when you do. You’ll be prompted to transact that fee to complete the order.

Do I have to drive a certain model or own a newer vehicle?

If your car can successfully complete the delivery, you can do deliveries. There are no 19-point vehicle inspections like the ride-share apps require. We figure you are transporting a gallon of milk, not a person, so we do not have restrictions on the vehicle you drive. We do recommend in our Driver Best Practices that you keep your vehicle clean, carry coolers or cooler bags and deliver all food items in a timely fashion.

How are payments handled?

With My HomeTown Delivery there are really two transactions; the initial purchase of the desired items and the customer payment to you at the time of delivery. When you deliver goods to customers for a business (furniture store, restaurant, florist), the customer may pay that business directly, and you just collect the delivery fee. Some drivers prefer using their own business credit card. By using your credit card to cover the purchase price, you can capitalize on the cash back rewards and miles. Those will quickly add up, providing a nice bonus of cash back or free travel. Your business could help fund your next vacation!

Drivers can also choose to accept instant payments via Paypal or credit-card payments using an electronic card swipe device on your smartphone. Of course, cash and checks (if you know the person) are always options.  As with most aspects of My HomeTown Delivery APP, we want to allow you to choose what works best for you.

What are My HomeTown Delivery driver requirements?

You must be a licensed, insured driver and own an iPhone or Android phone. If drivers opt in their profile to be a ‘public’ delivery driver, which means you accept delivery orders from any customer in your zip code you will be required to have a criminal background check processed through the My HomeTown Delivery website.

Would you better explain 'public vs. private' delivery drivers?

Delivery drivers have the option in their profile to have a ‘public’ or ‘private’ driver account.  Public drivers will be able to accept delivery orders from any customer in the driver’s zip code. Their profile and delivery fees will be shown to customers.  Public drivers will be required to purchase a background check (national and county criminal check) and will receive a background check badge displayed in their profile. Private drivers are only able to deliver to customers with whom they are connected. A customer puts in their driver’s ID number as part of the sign-up process and so, will always know the driver delivering to them.

When and where is delivery available?

Delivery is available at any time in locations where drivers are available. You can create an order to be delivered as soon as possible or schedule a delivery for a day and time that works for you.

How do I connect with a delivery driver?

We believe that the best delivery driver for you is one in your social network or connected with your friends on social media so we prompt you to share when you first create your account.  If you already know of a driver in your zip code you can add their driver number to your profile and they’ll be notified when you place an order. If you are not connected with any drivers we display drivers that are available in your zip code and you can choose from any *public drivers available.

*public drivers are required to have a national and county criminal check on file to be a ‘public’ driver

What kinds of items can I get delivered?

What do you want delivered? We see drivers delivering a lot of food; from basic groceries to take-out from popular restaurants that don’t deliver and even lattes to the office. Office supplies, building supplies, gifts, furniture, dry cleaning and more.

How do I pay for my items?

You’ll pay for most items when they are delivered. Delivery drivers will shop, purchase the items on your list, and then collect payment for the items, including the delivery fee when they complete the delivery. If the price is a known set amount for a larger purchase, you may directly pay the business you purchased it from and then just pay the delivery fee when it is delivered. If you are a new customer and requesting larger purchases, a driver may contact you to verify the order and payment form prior to providing delivery services. Personally knowing your driver may open other payment solutions. If you do not know your My HomeTown Delivery Driver it’s important to read and follow successful delivery best practices.
